Şerefe! - Cheers to Turkish Wine

“Bring the pure wine of love and freedom.
- But Sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we'll teach this storm
a thing or two about whirling.”
(By Rumi)
Oh my. I need to share my latest discovery in the universe of blogs with you all: Maddie's Vine. Blogging about.. wine. Bingo! Especially about Turkish wines, the country's best vinyards and food.. double and triple bingo! I have been planning to visit one or two wineries in the country for quite a while now, but didn't really know anybody I could ask for advise. So next year CB will be going wine tasting seguramente. The creative soul behind this fabulous blog is Madeleine, a gorgeous South African woman and mother who recently has moved with her small family to Istanbul where, thankfully, she decided to blog about her life, about exploring Istanbul and.. about wine.. oh wait, I already mentioned the wine part. So very nice.
Turkey can certainly compete with other great wine producing countries like Italy, France and South Africa to name a few. But it could also still use a little more international attention from wine lovers around the world. Besides, Turkey has some of the best side dishes (called mezze) to go with a glass of classy red or a chilled white one. Take note of the names Doluca, Kayra, Kavaklidere and Yakut to order on your next visit to Turkey.
For now, just head over to Maddie's Vine blog here for some fabulous pictures, recipe's, a list of best wines to keep you warm this winter and more. ” Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized”.
Wine and Istanbul - what a combi. simply vine -> di-vine -> mad'die-vine. same - same. You know what I mean..
